YOGA:

The word yoga itself means "union" of mind and body and has been around for thousands of years. Introducing kids to yoga at a young age stimulates their spirit while assisting a peaceful and harmonious existence. Yoga involves stretching core muscles while breathing deep and full, two very important things for children learn. Pairing basic yoga poses with fun scenes that encourage creative thinking makes yoga fun and enjoyable.  Read more: yoga and kids

MEDITATION:

Meditation is a state of mind that is free of scattered thoughts- and not easy to achieve. Other definitions of meditation include: to think upon, to become aware, to heal, a place of deep peace, or simply - as wisdom. Simply becoming aware of and focusing on your breath can be a form of meditation. Intentional focus on an object such as a flower, or your hands can bring about a slowed heart rate and decrease on blood pressure. It can allow you to focus on one thing at a time. And in our society, THAT can be amazing when life expects constant multi-tasking.

GUIDED IMAGERY:

A natural way to introduce children to relaxation and mindfulness is through guided imagery. Guided imagery is a meditative process that uses visualization and imagination to bring awareness to the mind-body connection. Children can easily access this healing process because they’re naturally imaginative. By relaxing into a vivid story they gain tools to deal with stress, pain or difficult feelings. It’s a wonderful way to connect with your child as they learn to listen to their inner wisdom and access their own power of healing.

CREATIVITY:

Creativity and self-expression are vital to the development of children. In the purest forms of creativity, the mind can generate independent ideas,  be imaginative, and play. There is no right or wrong way to be creative. It can help children to develop confidence and to be unique. It can allow children to explore new adventures, try new paths and help to develop self-acceptance. In many ways, technology has stunted creativity. Children do not have to "create games" on their own.... they just push the "on button" and a game pops up. The creative directives in this CD allow for imagination. There is no right or wrong way to be creative.... just open your imagination and go!
